Test case comments

Each test case has a Comments tab where team members discuss the case: reply in threads, pin key context to the top, and mention teammates. Comments appear in the activity feed and are scoped to the organization. Defect detail pages use the exact same comment thread experience described here.

Viewers can read the thread but cannot post, edit, delete, pin, or unpin. They never see the More actions menu.

Adding a comment

  1. Open the test case detail panel or expanded view.
  2. Click the Comments tab — the badge next to the label shows the current count.
  3. Type your message in the composer at the bottom of the thread. Use @ to mention a teammate (see Mentions).
  4. Click Comment, or press Enter to submit (Shift + Enter inserts a new line instead).

Replying to a comment

Click Reply on any comment to open a reply composer nested under it. Replies are one level deep — you cannot reply to a reply. Once a comment has replies, they render inside a collapsible group labeled with the reply count; collapsing the group hides the replies but keeps the count visible.

Sorting the thread

Use the sort control above the thread to switch between Oldest first (default) and Newest first. Your choice is remembered on this device across every comment thread you open. Replies always stay in chronological order under their parent, regardless of the sort you pick for top-level comments.

Pinning a comment

Open the More actions (⋯) menu on a top-level comment and choose Pin comment. Pinned comments render above the sorted feed, labeled “Pinned by {name}”. Any member can pin or unpin any comment — pinning is not limited to your own comments. Only top-level comments can be pinned; a reply has no pin option in its menu. There is no limit on how many comments you can pin at once. Choose Unpin comment from the same menu to remove it from the pinned set.

Editing a comment

Open the More actions (⋯) menu on your own comment and choose Edit. Make your changes and click Save. Edited comments display an (edited) marker. Only the original author can edit a comment. Editing a comment re-resolves any @mentions in the new text.

Deleting a comment

Open the More actions (⋯) menu on a comment and choose Delete. Admins and owners can delete any comment; members can only delete their own. Deleting a top-level comment also deletes all of its replies.

Deleting a comment is permanent and cannot be undone.

Mentions

Type @ followed by a few letters of a teammate’s name to open an autocomplete list of organization members; select one to insert a mention. Mentioned members are not notified by email or in-app — the mention is a visual cue, not an alert. If a mentioned member is later removed from the organization, the mention still renders using their last known display name.

Cascade delete

When a test case is deleted, all of its comments and replies are permanently deleted as well.

Activity feed

Comment actions (commenting, replying, editing, deleting, pinning, and unpinning) appear in the organization activity feed under the test case entity, including a brief excerpt of the comment body where applicable.
